The word “sitz” is from the German “sitzen”—no surprise, it means “to sit.”

A sitz bath is a shallow bath in which you can add salts, herbs, and other ingredients to create a clean, warm, healing pool in which to sit.  These are highly recommended post partum to bring about healing and reduce inflammation.  You can use specifically designed tubs to concentrate where needed or fill a tub and take a full bath for added back and leg pain relief.

The herbs in this bath have been selected for their healing, inflammation reducing, pain relieving and soothing properties.  Excellent for reducing swelling and restoring tissue.

This herbal bath is also very effective for symptoms associated with menstruation.

Relaxing and Healing

Firstly, it smells divine. During the first month-ish PP I would add the full amount to a full bath and get in with the babies with some added Epsom. They loved when I would support their head/neck and let them kinda free float in it. This was around the time I noticed Donnie has eczema like his older sister did and that he'd do better for a few days after one. Now that I use the little baby tub for them, I still make the full amount but freeze in about a cup increments and add that to the bath when his skin is needing some extra relief and I'll add the oat and milk too. Another plus was that even when I was bathing them because of really bad reflux and all the funk that comes with that, I didn't need to use soap because it did a great job of gently cleansing which I really loved because I don't particularly enjoy using any soap during those very early days

After having used it with this birth, I wish I'd done sitz in the bath, or a warm cloth dipped with it with my cesarean births because I really think it would have helped with the healing and prevented some of the irritation and discomfort on the surface layer of the incision. It also really helped with all the super stretched belly skin. Mine is usually a bit dry and itchy after birth as it goes back to normal-ish and it seemed to lessen that too

Heavenly Aroma

For full disclosure, my youngest baby is 6.5 months old. This is something I've been asking Emily about. I can't speak to the immediate postpartum experience (though I'm certain its fantastic). The aroma and relaxation I received was just what I was hoping for. And I ended up with a toddler and my baby in the bath with me, so I feel like that's saying something. If you want a wonderful, relaxing, healing, safe for infants, soak, I highly recommend this one!
