*Arrowroot powder: This is the starch obtained from the roots of several tropical plants. It absorbs moisture and keeps skin safe from minor infections. It is softening and soothing and rich in minerals. Arrowroot is suitable for all skin types and is used for treating skin infections such as rashes, sores and acne. Its anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties make it a perfect alternative to talcum which has been linked to several cancers, lung damage and respiratory conditions.
*Non-GMO Corn Starch: Rich in vitamins and minerals, cornstarch may promote healthy skin and regeneration of skin cells. It is soothing, protects and draws excess moisture and bacteria. It has some antioxidant properties that may combat fungus and reduce itchiness.
*Marshmallow Root Powder: Incredibly soothing and demulcent, marshmallow root powder is one of the rockstars in my formula. It is anti-inflammatory, and has been shown to calm and even heal skin irritations that include eczema and dermatitis. Its mucilage content makes it extremely soothing for dry, itchy, irritated and inflamed skin. It will speed the healing process of cuts, burns and sores.
*Oat Kernel: You know it as oatmeal, the delicious and warming breakfast cereal. Here, we use oat kernel for so many things. I grind my own oats for oat flour but for this powder, I buy organic oat flour. I can't quite get mine to the fine consistency without a nice grain mill. Oat is very soothing for skin inflammation and irritation. It keeps skin hydrated by creating a layer on the surface of the skin. It imparts nourishing qualities and improves skin health. High in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and lipids, oats are a multifaceted and multipurpose ingredient.
*Chamomile Flowers: These lovely flowers impart a delightful scent without being overpowering. They are gentle and reduce redness and inflammation. I grind my own organic flowers for this powder. These pack more antioxidants and are used for treating irritations and rashes. The flowers have properties that speed wound healing, bring moisture to damaged tissue and soothe discomfort.
*Lavender Buds: Adding another layer of lovely scent, lavender buds are another power packed herb. They are anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, skin soothing and healing. They help neutralize skin pH, control dryness and combat bacteria. Their anti-inflammatory properties calm skin and reduce swelling.
